Cobb County Radio Control Modeler's Club

Welcome to the Cobb County Radio Control Modeler's Club

The Cobb County Radio Control Modelers Club (CCRC) was founded in 1962 and became a chartered club #736 of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), District V. Today, the CCRC is one of the larger AMA chartered clubs with over 300 members.

The Cobb County Sports Aviation Complex (the CCRC facility), is supported by the Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and sports both paved and grass runways, separate helicopter flying area and a covered pit area that can accommodate 18 fixed-wing and 12 rotary-wing pre-flight work benches. Each bench area has an AC power source nearby to meet any electrical needs.

There are three spectator areas which provide bleacher-style seating, two which face the aircraft flying area, and one facing the helicopter flying area. The site also has permanent restroom accommodations for all.

All club members are required to be members of the Academy of Model Aeronautics in order to fly at the facility, as well as observing all of the rules of the field as well as those imposed by the AMA. Observing these guidelines assures all members that their safety is important to everyone.

For more information on membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Cobb County Radio Control Modelers Club select from the FAQs menu option at the top of this page.

Here are the results of the 2009 President, Vice President and By-Laws changes:

Election Results Pg3

ENFORCEMENT OF RULE II.4

Rule II.4 states: “Rotary wing flight will take place in the cleared area south of the helicopter orange safety fence. However; helicopter pilots may fly in the north field provided that no fixed wing pilots are present for the purpose of flying.”

Due to a recent unpleasant situation at the CCRC field, the strict enforcement of rule II.4 is necessary.
It is unfortunate that we are forced to break out the rule book and put our foot down to ensure the proper order of use that the facility was designed for. I believe the rule is clear, concise and not open to interpretation.
Thank you for your cooperation.
